Terrible acting? I had no idea what the Watchmen was about until I bought it on DVD and I watched it with my siblings and we were all blown away by how good it was. Malin Akerman also wasn't a great selection but she at least pulled of the role of Laurie Jupiter decent enough. None of the characters are likeable or have any sort of redeeming quality, and the few actually fun parts are far too short. But the plot, story line and everything else was ooo sooo boring...the opening fight scene may indeed be the best scene. Pants, stat! Although the score is a little misplaced and the ending differs, this film really does do justice to the graphic novel, which I have read many times. Minus one gratuitous sex scene it was dead one what I hoped it would be. A great adaptation, true to the original themes and tones. The dialogues are also pretty good, but do get long and boring after a while. Watchmen has already pulled off an impressive magic trick.Picking up a fan-favorite franchise with a loyal following of the comic books and segments of the fanbase devoted to Zack Snyder’s 2009 film adaptation was already a remarkable balancing act, and that Lindelof’s creative team was able to pull it off is impressive. 8 points. When I was watching Dark Knight in Imax a commercial came up for this movie. I'm going to sum this up in two words: The best. Only drawback to the film is the heavy use of 80's politics, which if you are not overly clear on can become too much to handle. What is that thing on Mars? 21. Really. What is the standard ? The ending is not only. It's crazy how this movie turned out average for me. How are they super powerful (besides the trite radiation accident BS with Manhattan)? This movie, visually was beautiful as is 300. For the record, I loved the 300 and Sin City, so it's not that I don't "get it". I also think that Ozymandias should have been portrayed as less of a mean character, at the end of the book he still questions if he did the right thing, giving him a more human and less robotic quality. Seriously, stop defending any film Zack Snyder has made because you know you're not a true moviegoer if you do this all day. Just plain awful. Purists to the graohic novel either say he was too faithful or not faithful enough. Why must he keep showing us this blue guy's penis? Sieve with microscopic holes, looks fine, but all the meaning just pours right through. This was indeed the worst movie I have ever seen. The existential questions of life, which we may never get. How apropos that there's a Comedian(Jeffrey Dean Morgan) present. I did not purchase a twelve dollar movie ticket to see terrible plot holes, poor character development, cheesy dialog lines, and a blue wang. 6 reviews in total. Terrible. Screened FRebruary 2. There's a line between just making a crappy movie and actually showing bald-faced contempt for your viewing audience. I loved X-men and don't demand fidelity to the laws of science, but I like humans to act like humans, and didn't buy into several characters in this movie. A dark, gritty, ultra-violent superhero story full of blood, guts, slaughter and sex, Watchmen is the superhero film for adults only. Very violent and gory which gets a bit tiresome. Regina King is having a huge week! I thoroughly enjoyed the beginning montage as well, it was quite a spectacle to behold! This movie just lacks composition and many scenes are just unnecessary, including some of the characters. and the super heros don't have a real power! A lot of exposition is removed, but that isn't what bothers me. The haters just can't stand watching superhero movie with only ONE superpowered person. Alternative take on superhero movies with plenty of darkness in the characters and good use of the heroes interacting with moments in history. Amazing movie. This was a very disappointing book-to-film portrayal. This movie makes me puke. If you want to waste your time, go watch G.I. The altered ending was not surprising, but not a total loss either. As some have already stated, if you've read the graphic novel and really enjoyed it, then you will probably love this movie. How anyone could make it through the Director's cut is beyond me. It honors its source material in a good way, Zack Snyder has done it again. An amazingly dark take on the superhero genre that Snyder somehow couldn't replicate in his DC films. Faithful to the comic. It is almost a perfect, The Watchmen, though enjoyable, was, to be quite honest, too long and drawn out. It … A lot of the film consisted of scenes that did not add to the central plot. Directed by Zack Snyder. The story, the setting, the characters, everything works perfectly to create this dark alternate reality. But Laurie should be one to talk, the daring rescue of some people trapped in a burning high-rise that she and Dan a.k.a. In fact, he amps up the fight sequences so much that they're martial arts-movie-worthy and even gratuitously violent. This is one of those films where you either love it or you hate it. This movie started out really cool with outsanding potential: good introduction and top-notch music playlist. The source material was translated to the screen with the reverence it deserved. Depressing and heavy handed, the story likes to pretend it has some deep philosophical statement about human kind, but mostly it just keeps slapping you in the face with mallet that has "Humans suck!" View All Watchmen News . A terrific comic-book movie, the most completely satisfying and unsettling one I've ever seen. So there's one thing I am confused about this movie. "Watchmen" won't convert the holdover naysayers(who pooh-pooh the thought of the comic book as literature, although Allison Bechdel's "Fun Home" and Adrian Tomine's "Shortcomings" are changing more minds), which is a crying shame, since in most fanboy circles, this is the standard-bearer. Why? The fight scenes are brilliantly choreographed into a hyper-reality. Not to mention, Dr. Manhattan (the blue guy) is completely naked the whole movie and is exposed, which blinded me through parts of the movie (if he was having sex, it woulda been intriguing, but no, he was just hanging out. Don't expect Spiderman or The Dark Knight. There's something faintly "Seinfeld"-esque about Night Owl and Silk Spectre, and "Watchmen", in general. And its long. Mostly enjoyable but bonkers. The ending is so whimsical you are driven to a Damocles sword. Some people are allergic to peanuts. That's actually a departure: Watchmen is famously cerebral -- the action isn't the point, and by focusing on the superheroes' battle prowess, the film undercuts the novel's attempt to humanize them. That's why this great movie ain't going to any respect! After a superhero named the Comedian is killed, the rest of the superheroes that form the Watchmen must reunite to track down the killer and stop world war 3.
